University of Limerick

The University of Limerick (UL), located on the west coast of Ireland, is a popular choice for national and international students. Limerick is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland and has a beautiful location on one of Ireland’s most picturesque rivers, the River Shannon. UL is an independent, internationally focused university with over 11,600 students and 1,300 staff. It is a young, energetic and enterprising university with a proud record of innovation in education and excellence in research and scholarship.

Students choose UL for the internationally recognised programmes and the unique campus location. The University is situated on 133 hectares of green parkland along the river Shannon and provides the best on-campus accommodation and sporting facilities in Ireland. UL offers high quality, innovative degree programmes which are relevant and current for the world in which we live.Our growing body of students are represented across the four faculties at UL: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Education and Health Sciences, Science and Engineering and the Kemmy Business School. Over 72 undergraduate programmes and 103 taught postgraduate programmes are offered by the University.

UL has close links with industry from undergraduate to postdoctoral level and runs one of the largest cooperative education (undergraduate internship) programmes in the European Union. Each year, UL secures work placements for students across 1700 employers, 30% of which are international. Known as ‘Ireland’s Sporting Campus’ UL boasts a 50 metre swimming pool. Other facilities include the National Strength and Conditioning Centre, a Cardio-Fitness Centre and a Court Sports Hall and University of Limerick Activity Centre in Killaloe. It is ideally suited for outdoor activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, orienteering, archery and mountain biking.
