Position: Programme Director – MA in Integrative Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

Reports to: Director of Counselling & Psychotherapy

Job Purpose:
Directors of Programmes are the academic leaders within the College. They provide leadership within their area and ensure that the programmes, staff, and resources of their disciplinary area are appropriately managed and have overall responsibility for the academic integrity of the programmes they lead. The Programme Director is a member of the Academic Board and is represented at the Executive Management team by the Academic Dean, who is responsible for the academic leadership of the College. The Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy will lead and continue the development of the programme.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, development, provision, and quality assurance of all modules within the programmes.
- Development of Teaching, Learning and Assessment strategy for their Programmes (in consultation with the Academic Council).
- Management of the assessment process.
- Resourcing of the Programme in consultation with the Management Team.
- Communicating accreditation and professional standards body requirements and meeting those requirements.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance policies and procedures within the IICP College Quality Assurance Framework.
- Implementation of QA policies and procedures and organisational strategy.
- Recruitment, selection, training and management of both faculty and adjunct faculty where required.
- Keeping current with developments in their field and assessing their potential impact on the programme.
- Raising the profile of the programme through research, publications, conference proceedings and networking.
- Representing the programme to the Academic Board.
- On-going monitoring and review, planning and reporting.
- Organise student meetings and one-to-one evaluations
- Provision of cover for lecturers to ensure programme continuous to deliver high quality content
- Chair and manage the Programme Board
- Conduct interviews in conjunction with the admissions department
- General student care support
- Manage the process of ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of the programme through critical analysis of data and feedback.
- Ensuring that the necessary quality enhancement/improvement measures are implemented in a timely fashion.
- Working with the Clinical Placement Manager, ensuring that the standards for student support while on placement are implemented.
- Take responsibility for the development, growth, and success of the programme – academic and professional
Requirements/Qualifications:
Essential:
- Qualified to level 9 on the QQI national framework of qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years Accredited Member of IACP or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years working therapeutically with Children and Adolescents.
- Excellent knowledge of policy, curriculum, and practice in the academic and clinical settings.
- Excellent knowledge of Counselling & Psychotherapy education in Ireland.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a counselling & psychotherapy educator and in the delivery and assessment of programmes of higher education.
- High level of competence in communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating excellence in diplomacy and negotiation.
- Self-motivated leader with a proven record in effective team leadership and management and the ability to motivate and empower others.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of teaching and learning through the medium of blended learning.
- A proven record in engagement with the wider higher education community.
- An active researcher, with the ability to contribute to the College’s research strategy.
