Assistant Professor / Lecturer (Permanent) Department of Computer Science, Maynooth University

As part of Maynooth University’s strategic development, the Department of Computer Science is seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as an Assistant Professor / Lecturer in Computer Science. Applicants should be strongly rooted in Computer Science, have internationally recognised expertise in their field and pursue research at the forefront of their topic. The appointee will be a full faculty member, and as such will be expected to innovate in both research and teaching, to assist in the administration and mission of the Department, and to contribute to the wider research community. 

Applications are encouraged from candidates who will lead and collaborate in teaching, research and curriculum development in areas which include, but are not limited to 

  • Intelligent Systems  
  • Cybersecurity 
  • Trustworthy Computing 
  • Theory of Computation 
  • Emerging Computer Science 

The appointed candidate will be an excellent researcher and teacher with clear potential for research leadership and have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. They will have a strong commitment to research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a demonstrated capacity/potential to attract research funding and develop a world-class research programme.  

The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile that supports the University’s research strategy, including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate, and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance, and generate publications of international standard. They should have a strong commitment to research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a demonstrated capacity/potential to attract research funding and develop a world-class research programme. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise Masters and PhD students.

Application Information 

 

Applicants should provide the following information: 

  1. A comprehensive curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications, including an ORCiD url webpage (with public visibility) containing the list of all publications as per Open Science. The CV should highlight other applications (than open access publications) of open science principles as part of their teaching or research practices. 
  2. A research plan summarising research to be carried out in the next three years – max 2 pages. 
  3. A teaching statement summarising teaching experience and approach. This also includes any experience of science communications (e.g. tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, public engagement, etc) – max 2 pages. 

For an application to be deemed complete, all of the above must be provided.
