Research Scientist, UCD Information & Comms, Temp 4 years

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist within UCD School of Information and Communication Studies. The research scientist for this post will create and develop a case study focusing on open research infrastructure in Latin America (e.g. SciELO). Of particular interest are the theoretical and methodological insights pertaining to openness, boundaries, censorship and regulations in response to the questions: How knowledge becomes valuable, marginalised, neglected, blocked, or kept secret? Does open research infrastructure lead to epistemic diversity or epistemic injustice? The research scientist will be one of a team of researchers, including one other postdoctoral research scientist and a PhD candidate, all working under the guidance and supervision of the PI. The team will meet regularly, and team members are expected to work on campus when they are not collecting data on site. In addition to the mandatory CV/Resume listed on the online application system, candidates must include in their cover letter a 300-500 word description of their interest in open research infrastructure in Latin America. Particular to this position: Willingness to travel and conduct independent field work and/or archival research and disseminate research findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences in Ireland and internationally.
