Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher/Post-Doctoral Researcher Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation

The Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation (CGR) was established in University College Cork (UCC) as a research unit within the Department of Medicine at UCC in September 2010. In addition to research-led clinical project activity, the centre supports interdisciplinary teaching and learning in Gerontology, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care through its Postgraduate Programmes in Older Person Rehabilitation and Dementia.
Our core mission is to promote healthy ageing and to raise the standard of healthcare for older people. Ongoing research is focused on dementia and delirium, Parkinson’s Disease, rehabilitation, advance care planning and palliative care in neurodegeneration, with a strong focus on research that is user-focussed and informs policy and quality improvement in the Health Service. CGR staff and researchers are from a broad range of disciplines and CGR has strong links to many other departments in the School of Medicine, and to other schools in the College of Medicine and Health, particularly Nursing and Clinical Therapies.
The Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation | University College Cork is currently recruiting a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher or Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on the In-Touch Horizon Europe funded project. This position can be filled at either Senior Post-Doctoral / Post-Doctoral Researcher level, depending on qualification and experience of the successful candidate and to be appointed at the more appropriate grade based on experience.
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join an international study evaluating the In-Touch intervention. In-Touch is a person-centred palliative care programme for people with advanced dementia in nursing homes. This ambitious 5-year project is being led by UCC, and the project involves a pan-European cluster randomised controlled trial in 56 nursing homes across 7 European countries. The successful applicant will work within in the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Professor Suzanne Timmons.
The successful candidate will contribute to trial design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. Responsibilities include coordinating multi-site data collection in Ireland, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and preparing publications and presentations of findings. Experience in clinical trials, dementia care, palliative care, or health services research is desirable.
