Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering

Post Status Tenure Track - This position is Tenure Track position which is 5-years in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements.

 

The Purpose of the Role 

The School of Engineering seeks to make the Tenure Track appointment of an Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering, to complement the existing staff in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. This new appointment will help deliver our 5-year integrated Civil Engineering MAI degree, our 5-year integrated Environmental Science and Engineering MAI/MSc degree and our MSc in Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including (but not limited to) the teaching of Environmental Engineering and Hydraulics, as well as being expected to seek research funding actively as an independent investigator and to undertake postgraduate research supervision. Context 

The focus area for this appointment is in the area of Environmental Engineering. Applicants should have a strong research background in Environmental Engineering. The candidates' specialism should be complementary to existing strengths of academic staff in the Department of Civil Engineering. Particularly of interest is how their research background compliments with the Department of Civil Engineering existing strengths in areas such as air quality, hydrology, water quality and energy. The research activities of the department are inherently multi-disciplinary in nature, often involving large collaborative projects.

 

Person Requirements

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role. 

Qualifications 

• An undergraduate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline [essential] 

• A Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline [essential] 

• Academic publications in peer reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value.
