Research Associate-ERC Project-Czechia, UCD Law, Temp 18 months

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Associate - ERC Project RIGHTS TO UNITE - Czechia within UCD Sutherland School of Law.

We seek to employ a Research Associate for the European Research Council (ERC) project RIGHTS TO UNITE (Advanced Grant) led by Prof Dagmar Schiek, for a duration of 18 months starting on 01 October 2025 the latest (an earlier start is possible from September 2025).

The RIGHTS TO UNITE Project aims to generate a new socio-legal theory of European integration based on citizens' experience of European integration through rights, and to explore its viability through qualitative research using liberal/economic, social and digital rights as fields of research. Its multi-level comparison encompasses smaller states in the EU and its neighbourhood, more specifically four EU countries (Ireland, Czech Republic, Greece and Sweden) and four neighbourhood states (Northern Ireland, Norway, North Macedonia and Georgia). The Research Associate joins the project in its second year, with the aim to complete socio-legal research contributing to the project's theoretical frame and to qualitative comparative research on citizens' experience of European integration through rights, with a focus on Norway. The project team also comprises two postdoctoral researchers, a number of PhD researchers and a project manager (more information on https://rightstounite.eu/).

For this Research Associate, we are looking for a highly motivated and qualified researcher with an emerging profile in socio-legal studies of the European Union, with an understanding of the Czech experience of European integration and of legal comparison. This post requires the ability to work at academic levels in Czech and English. Career development opportunities specific to this project comprise presenting work at international conferences, contributing to project academic seminars and co-authoring peer reviewed publications.
