Assistant Professor in Construction Management and Engineering

Title of Post: Assistant Professor in Construction Management and Engineering

 

JOB SYNOPSIS

The School of Engineering is seeking candidates for the role of Assistant Professor in Construction Management and Engineering. The School has close links with both national and international industry collaborators in the built environment and is committed to conducting relevant impactful research to provide solutions for industry and societal needs. Ideal candidates for this post will have a primary degree in a discipline related to the built environment and a doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Construction Management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research programme supported by extramural funding and to supervise postgraduate research students. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as contribute to research centres/groups within UL such as the Irish Construction Management Research Centre (ICMRC) and the Bernal Institute. Candidates should have the ability to lecture to students in Construction Management and Engineering and be committed to teaching excellence. The School of Engineering is part of the Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Limerick (ranked 401 in the QS world university rankings 2026). The school has a strong focus on excellent engineering science research and education. The Construction Management and Engineering programme at the University of Limerick is in high demand from both national and international students. The programme is accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE). In addition, the School offers internationally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (by Engineers Ireland – Washington Accord Signatory) across a range of engineering disciplines including Aeronautical, Biomedical, Civil, Design & Manufacture, Digital Mechatronics, and Mechanical. The School offers postgraduate research programmes (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in a variety of disciplines, including Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Industrial Automation and Manufacturing, Composites, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Aerospace Engineering, and others. The School holds a Bronze Athena SWAN award with a submission for a Silver Award being made in 2025. We are actively committed to implementing a range of gender diversity actions to encourage a more balanced and inclusive environment and strongly encourage staff to avail of university-led work/life balance initiatives and are proactive in mainstreaming such initiatives within the School.
