Post-Doctoral Researcher Insight Centre for Data Analytics

Applications are invited for the post of a fixed-term contract position as a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics, based at the School of Computer Science & IT, University College Cork, Ireland. 

The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work in the intersection of various ongoing projects related to user-centred AI applications. This position is highly interdisciplinary as it supports the advancement of data visualisation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence domains. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be expected to perform research and development in these areas, within an established group of researchers, PhD students, MSc students and undergraduate final year students. Two applications will be at the core of the work: soundscape ecology of underwater recordings, and document analysis.

The nature and structure of the Phase 2 Research Ireland Centre programme allows for Post-Doctoral Researchers to work and gain valuable experience in a varied & research-rich environment where you may gain experience, where applicable, working on projects with SME’s, MNC’s, H2020 projects as well as basic platform research within the Insight Centre for Data Analytics programme. 

The successful candidate will be based in the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics at the University College Cork. The candidate will be supported in their professional development, be able to avail of a range of career-level focused training opportunities and have the potential to publish research findings in leading journals and international events.

Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s.  This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.  Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEIResearcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
