The Purpose of the Role
Trinity College Dublin Disability Service is seeking an Occupational Therapist (new graduate or experienced) to deliver direct, student-focused supports to disabled students across the University.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide evidence-informed occupational therapy interventions that enable students with disabilities to participate fully in academic, social, and university life. This will include delivery of structured one-to-one supports and group-based programmes aimed at enhancing self-management, executive functioning, participation skills, wellbeing, and progression through higher education.
The post is particularly suited to a new graduate seeking to consolidate core professional competencies within a supervised, university-based practice environment. Graduating students (2026) are welcome to apply. Where CORU registration is pending, the successful candidate will undertake project work and contribute to service initiatives under the supervision of senior Occupational Therapy staff until registration is confirmed.
The Occupational Therapist will operate within an established, evidence-based Disability Service (DS) aligned to the University’s Strategic Plan and Disability Action commitments. The role offers structured clinical experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and opportunities to contribute to service development, while maintaining a clear focus on high-quality, student-centred practice.
Benefits
- Continuous Professional Development is a central aspect of this post, with various training opportunities provided within the service, the University and externally in support of practice & projects.
- Clinical Supervision is also a core aspect of the post, with fortnightly individual supervision with the Occupational Therapy Manager and ongoing support from the Occupational Therapy team and other Disability Service Staff.
- Opportunity to develop new projects and initiatives within the service in response to student need and interest of the post holder, as well as to carry out research to inform developments.
- Opportunity to work collaboratively with other areas of Trinity and to co-produce approaches and resources with students.
Context
The DS is committed to providing modern, dynamic, innovative, integrated, high-quality, and cost-effective front-line services that make a real difference to the Trinity community. Objectives are achieved through innovative approaches and continuous review of service delivery while also maximising partnerships and joint working opportunities. We work in partnership with students with disabilities in co-producing activities that aim to engage the University community in creating an inclusive transformational environment and provide a platform for innovation and inclusion.
The role-holder will be a key team member that drives the DS agenda in the University. The DS utilises a multi-disciplinary approach and is comprised of an experienced team of individuals who work to support students with disabilities. They include Disability Officers who are Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and an Assistive Technologist, all of whom seek to offer a quality support based on individual need, as identified using a highly developed disability needs assessment process. The DS continues to undergo momentous change and with the development of the disAbility Hub in Printing House Square the role requires an individual who can realise the mission, vision, and values in the Trinity College Strategic Plan 2025-2030 and disability Action Plan.
The Occupational Therapist will report to the Senior Occupational Therapist and/or Disability Service Occupational Therapy Manager and is responsible for the delivery of high-quality needs assessments and occupational therapy supports for students with disabilities in Trinity College Dublin and its associated Colleges.
