Lecturer in Climate Physics, Permanent, 1 FTE, Contract Type B, 011668
Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in Climate Physics, in the School of Natural Sciences at University of Galway.
The School is seeking applications for the position of Lecturer from suitably qualified candidates with a strong background in Climate Physics or related research, aligned with the work of the Centre for Climate and Air Pollution Studies (CCAPS), and with significant experience and leadership in undergraduate Physics teaching. The successful applicant will be ideally situated to collaborate across the School of Natural Sciences, especially in Environmental Science and Earth and Ocean Sciences, by contributing to new teaching programmes and research initiatives.
The successful applicant must have a proven ability to teach undergraduate physics to the level of the Institute of Physics ‘Core of Physics’, as well as deliver specialised teaching in Climate science and related subjects. Preference will be given to those candidates who can also demonstrate that they are well placed to take a leadership role in the development of first year physics teaching, including engaging with partners such as teachers at second level, and through building undergraduate communities.
The successful applicant will carry out their own research in an area of Climate Physics that aligns with the School’s priorities, and may encompass research for knowledge and/or research for policy and community-based research. Preference will be given to those candidates who are considered well-placed to develop externally funded research contracts, with considerable research achievements demonstrated through one or more of a strong publications record, policy relevant outputs and impacts, and significant grant activity.

Salary: €64,903 to €103,538 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
