JOB SYNOPSIS
The Research Fellow will join the Centre for Robotics & Intelligent Systems (CRIS) at the University of Limerick to contribute to the development of advanced underwater robotic technologies supporting inspection, monitoring, and maintenance activities in offshore renewable energy environments. The role will focus on AI-enabled perception, navigation, autonomy, and coordinated mission execution for underwater robotic systems, with a strong emphasis on hands-on work with real-time pose estimation of floating structures, ROV piloting and control, adaptive path planning, remote vehicle operation technologies and acoustic and/or optical imaging sensors (e.g. sonar, multibeam, laser, stereo/structured-light cameras). The successful candidate will be responsible for system integration, algorithm development, and participation in controlled testing and offshore field deployments. This position requires strong programming skills, experience with robotic middleware, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research and engineering team. The role provides significant opportunities for impactful research outputs and international collaboration.

Salary Scale: €66,548 - €72,514 p.a. pro rata (maximum starting salary €68,478 p.a. pro rata)
