Title of Post: Technical Officer Senior Technical Officer - LAB Support
JOB SYNOPSIS
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support for undergraduate teaching laboratories in the areas of engineering mechanics (statics, dynamics, strength of materials, friction and related fields), the Design, Build and Fly module, and the carbon-fibre composites manufacturing facility. The role requires strong practical skills in mechanical engineering laboratory equipment, including but not limited to flywheel-based moment of inertia apparatus, PASCO cart impact/collision systems, co-planar forces experiment, moments of inertia experiments, deflection of beams experiments, friction on inclined planes experiments and vibration experiments. The post holder will also support the Design, Build and Fly module (based on the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition) where students design, build and flight-test RC model aircraft. Hands on skills and dexterity are very important while working with fragile balsa materials – related transferable skills would be beneficial.
