The Purpose of the Role
The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in History of Irish Art in its Global Contexts, 1800-2000, based in the Department of History of Art and Architecture. Candidates can have expertise in any aspect of Irish Art during this period but must be able to extend this expertise to Ireland’s global relations. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to incorporate collections in Ireland in their teaching and research and to contribute to the research activity of the Trinity Irish Art Research Centre (TRIARC). It is also desirable that candidates have experience of teaching and research in the digital humanities.
The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to teaching and research in History of Irish Art and to undertake administrative activities in the Department and the School of Histories and Humanities. The successful applicant will have a proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in the History of Irish Art and will be expected to contribute both to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and to interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision, and mentoring.
Context
The Department of History of Art and Architecture requires a candidate to take a lead role in teaching and research of History of Irish Art in the modern period (1800-2000) within the Department and across the School and University. In collaboration with colleagues, they will build on Trinity’s existing leadership role in History of Art through excellent teaching, supervision, and mentorship, and through building research projects within their expertise and across cognate disciplines.
Qualifications
An excellent academic record and have completed or be close to completion of a PhD in History of Art.
