The Purpose of the Role 

The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in History of Modern European Art, based in the Department of History of Art and Architecture. Candidates must have a specialism in European Art from the period between 1800 and 1950 and must demonstrate an ability to incorporate collections in Ireland in their teaching and research. 

The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to teaching and research in History of Art and to undertake administrative activities in the Department and the School of Histories and Humanities. The successful applicant will have a proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in the History of Modern European Art and will be expected to contribute both to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and to interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision, and mentoring.

Context 

The Department of History of Art and Architecture requires a candidate to take a lead role in teaching and research of History of Modern European Art within the Department and across the School and University. In collaboration with colleagues, s/he will build on Trinity’s existing leadership role in History of Art through excellent teaching, supervision, and mentorship, and through building research projects within her/his expertise and across cognate disciplines.

Qualifications 

An excellent academic record and have completed or be close to completion of a PhD in History of Art.
