The Purpose of the Role
The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a talented individual to a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in the history of Northern Ireland. This post will be based in the Department of History, and its primary purpose will be to engage in research and deliver teaching relating to the history of Northern Ireland and to contribute to the teaching of modern history within the Department and on the School of Histories and Humanities’ taught postgraduate programmes in Modern Irish History and Public History and Cultural Heritage. The successful applicant will have a PhD in History or a related field, and we would especially welcome applications from candidates with research interests and teaching experience in the political history of Northern Ireland in any period from the early 20th century to the present. The successful applicant must demonstrate a proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in the history of Northern Ireland.
Qualifications
- A PhD in History or a related discipline, completed by the application date, is essential
- Academic publications in peer-reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value.
