The Purpose of the Role
The Discipline of Medical Education in the School of Medicine at Trinity College invites applications for the post of an Assistant Professor in Medical Education. The post will support and contribute to the teaching, research, and administrative activities in the discipline. This role will have a particular emphasis on developing and implementing an evidence-based education practices across the undergraduate medicine course in line with the university policies and international best practice, to meet the standards of the Irish Medical Council.
The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of medical education and be expected to contribute to the ongoing review of the curriculum.
Appointees will be expected to divide their time between teaching, research, supporting undergraduate medical education including curriculum review and Internship programmes. The postholder will play a critical role in the development of the new discipline and its impact on medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
This is a 5 Year Fixed Term contract with a view to permanency.

Context
Established in 2023, the Discipline of Medical Education represents the School of Medicine’s commitment to the development of innovative education which is research-driven, interdisciplinary and international. The successful post holder will work closely with the Head of Medical Education on curricular reform of the undergraduate medical programme. They will also collaborate with cognate areas in the school to ensure the delivery, organisation, coordination, and assessment of the undergraduate medical programme and the Internship Tracks.
This role will be part of a small dynamic team working on medical education and educational research. The role is based in the School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin, situated in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, main TCD campus, and affiliated sites. There will also be a requirement to visit the main teaching hospitals and participate in faculty development practices across the affiliated sites.

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.
Qualifications
• A Ph.D. in Medical Education, Healthcare Education or Education from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years (full-time or its equivalent) of relevant university level teaching experience.
