Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Purpose of the Role 

The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to teaching, research and administrative activities in the School. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. 

This is a part-time (0.7 FTE) specific purpose contract to cover the teaching, assessment and curriculum development work of the original post holder whilst they are seconded to a Head of School post. Employment is not offered on an indefinite duration basis as the original postholder is expected to return from this secondment. If the postholder does not return to their original post the post will be filled through open competition. 

We expect the successful candidate to take up the post from the beginning of January 2026.

 

Context 

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences currently offers undergraduate pharmacy education, postgraduate degrees by research and several taught postgraduate courses.

 

Person Requirements 

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role. 

Qualifications 

• Excellent academic record and a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, or a related discipline. 

• Ideally the candidate will have a degree in pharmacy and be entitled to register as a pharmacist in the EU but qualifications at BSc level in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry or medicinal chemistry will also be suitable.
