Assistant Professor in Speech & Language Pathology

The Purpose of the Role 

The primary purpose of this full-time post is to contribute to paediatric speech and language therapy teaching, research and administrative activities in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in the interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring.

 

Context 

This post is central to undergraduate educational activities within the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. In particular, the appointee will be expected to collaborate with colleagues in teaching, research supervision and clinical practice support for students registered for the undergraduate programme as well as with administrative management of the programme. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to postgraduate activities through teaching and/or project supervision in the area of paediatric speech and language therapy. 

The Department requires a candidate to support and lead cutting edge research in paediatric speech and language therapy, to aid the development of curricula, advanced practice and support relationships with new and existing services provider partners.

 

Person Requirements 

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role. 

Qualifications 

• Excellent academic record and have completed a Ph.D. in speech and language therapy. 

• Have a professional qualification in speech and language therapy, with eligibility for registration with CORU and/or for full membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists. 

• Academic publications in peer reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value. 

• Have evidence of a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience of working as a speech and language therapist (which may include a period registered for a PhD). 

• Have or be willing to acquire an appropriate postgraduate professional qualification in third-level teaching
