The Purpose of the Role

The School of Computer Science and Statistics is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Computer Science (Information Systems), who will join the Discipline of Statistics and Information Systems. The Associate Professor will be a full faculty member, and as such will be expected to innovate in both research and teaching, to assist in the administration and mission of the School and contribute to the wider research community. The appointee should be a well-established researcher in the field of Information Systems, with an internationally recognised research programme, and have demonstrated the potential to establish a world-class research programme at Trinity College Dublin. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in the School, particularly in the area of Information Systems The Associate Professor will be expected to be deeply involved in the running, delivery and future development of our flagship ‘Management Science and Information Systems Studies (MSISS)’ undergraduate degree course.

The successful candidate will have evidence of excellence in both research and teaching, and a strong international research track record with evidence of research leadership. They should have a strong commitment to research-informed undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a demonstrated capacity/potential to attract research funding and develop a world-class research programme.
The School’s BA in Management Science and Information Systems Studies (MSISS) has a long-standing and successful history; we recently celebrated 40 years of MSISS. This flagship degree course attracts top class students and has one of the best graduate employment records of undergraduate courses in Ireland. The Associate Professor in Computer Science (Information Systems) will play a pivotal role in the leadership of the course, thus ensuring its continued success and relevance.
Applications are encouraged from candidates in the field of Information Systems (including but not limited to: Human Computer Interaction (HCI), User Centred/Experience Design (UXD), Operations Research, Information Systems Management, Enterprise Systems, Data Analytics, Database Systems, Digital Policy and Technology and Society), and a genuine commitment to the role of teaching of Information Systems at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Computer Science/Information Systems or a closely related subject. The group particularly welcomes applicants who have experience and interest in working in an interdisciplinary setting, and most notably individuals who can exploit the Discipline's position within a School of Computer Science and Statistics.
