Postdoctoral Researchers in Sociology and Social Policy
The Legacies project funded by the European Research Council and led by Professor Virpi Timonen is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers in the field of sociology and social policy, with a focus on future-oriented policy discourses and intergenerational relationships in ageing societies. These appointments are at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). The topics that the researchers will investigate include but are not limited to:
- inheritance and bequests as societal and global (policy) issues
- intergenerational wealth transfer within and outside kinship networks
- organizational legacy-making (e.g. nonprofits soliciting bequests towards environmental causes)
- policy, legal and social discourses on the welfare and rights of future human generations and non-human entities
Applicants must have a recent PhD in one of the social sciences, native speaker or equivalent English, excellent academic writing skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. The recruitment process will include an analytical writing exercise in English. Knowledge of Italian, Korean, or Swedish is an advantage but not required.
The vacancies will be filled on a rolling basis. Appointments will be made for up to 2 years, with probationary period of 6 months.
Appointment will be made on 2024-2026 IUA Researcher Salary Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy, depending on level of experience.
