Salary: Appointment will be made on IUA scale commensurate with experience at a point in line with Government Pay Policy.
Hours of Work: 0.6 FTE
Closing Date: 12 Noon, September 8, 2025
Starting date: 15th September to 1st December 2025.
Post Summary
The purpose of this role is to assist the Director of HMI with the administration and
management of the HMI Simons grant and all grant supported activities of HMI staff members
(Director, postdoctoral fellows, visiting professors and visiting scholars); to work in regular
contact with another research assistant in HMI when needed with respect to Simons grant; to
similarly provide support for the PIs of the FAIM and MaScAmp ERC awards and ERC
supported staff and students.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
• providing assistance with organisation of events, conferences, workshops and visitor
programmes supported by the Simons grant and ERC awards
• organizing inbound and outbound visits, assisting in event planning outside TCD
(where related to grant/award activities) and arranging local hospitality
• record-keeping and compliance for Simons grant and ERC awards
• providing assistance in preparing grant/award reports
• coordinating communications and acting as liaison with School of Mathematics,
College and outside college
• acting as liaison with other nodes of the ERC synergy team, ERC project officers and
Simons Foundation staff
• acting as liaison with SoM finance officer on financial matters and other administrative
divisions in TCD as needed (FSD, HR, catering, etc.)

The successful candidate will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for
successful performance in the role:
Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree or above.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development (essential).
Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)
• Significant administrative experience (essential), preferably in an academic
environment (desirable);
• Excellent IT skills (essential);
• Experience of working to tight deadlines, multi-tasking and managing different and
conflicting demands (essential).
• Experience fostering collaborative working relationships across a diverse range of
stakeholders (essential);
Skills & Competencies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and service-mindedness with the ability to interface
