Research Culture and Quality Manager (STEM focus)

The Purpose of the Role
To develop, drive and maintain improvements in research culture and quality across the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), through consultation, strategic programme planning and delivery, and the provision of expert insight and support. The role holder will develop strong networks across the institution to ensure that existing and emergent issues involving research culture and quality are tackled, that examples of best practice are identified and celebrated, and that the Faculty of STEM fosters a culture of inclusivity as well as excellence in research.
This role is one of three Research Culture and Quality Managers, with this one focusing specifically on the Faculty of STEM.
Context
The role is based in the Research Strategy and Policy team within Trinity Research. It reports to the Head of Research Strategy and Policy and will work alongside the other Faculty Research Culture and Quality Managers with whom they will share experiences and perspectives, so as to ensure a consistent cross-institutional service for research culture and quality. The role will liaise directly with Heads of School, Research Development Officers and Directors of Research based in the eight constituent schools within the Faculty. The post-holder will be invited to attend the STEM Faculty Executive Committee to share knowledge and to articulate existing and emerging research strengths and new opportunities for research quality improvement, practise and policy within the Faculty.
Through the work of its teams, Trinity Research is responsible for: delivering sector-leading support to the research community, leading work on institutional research strategy, research policy and research culture initiatives, leading the University’s engagement with national and international research funding and policy matters, and working to enhance the profile and reputation of the University’s research.
Person Requirements
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
• The post-holder must be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a STEM related field or discipline.
• Recent and relevant knowledge and experience of the Higher Education sector.
• Demonstrable knowledge of key current international and national quality and culture issues relevant to University research.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, research and data analysis tools.
Desirable
• Postgraduate degree in STEM discipline
• Experience of working in interdisciplinary research or research culture contexts.
• Experience of working in a research environment associated with a STEM discipline
