The Purpose of the Role
The AIB Trinity Climate Hub, hosted by the School of Natural Sciences, is seeking to appoint a Research Hub Manager who will drive the mission, vision, culture, impact and strategic objectives of the AIB Trinity Climate Hub, together with its implementation. The Research Hub Manager will foster an environment of research excellence and impact where research and innovation can flourish and enhance the brand and identity of the Hub. The Research Hub Manager will have responsibilities for leading and managing the effectiveness of all internal and external partnerships, research collaboration, development of infrastructure and equipment, innovation, commercialization, finance and operations appropriate for the Hub’s scale (€10M).
The postholder will lead a team of two initially, setting strategic direction in areas of responsibility and then managing priorities and delivery of workstreams and activities. Key deliverables in the role will include:
• Strategic development of an impactful inter-disciplinary research programme
• Developing and implementing strategies and relationships to enable the long-term sustainability of the AIB Trinity Climate Hub
• Development of research infrastructure and equipment platforms to enable cutting edge climate, biodiversity and water research within Trinity
• Working with necessary internal university management and administrative teams, as well as external partners, to ensure the efficient operation of the Hub
• Ensuring effective collaboration between staff in operations, academia and industry
• Ensuring delivery of public engagement with the research programme, including a communications plan in collaboration with the Communications and Education and Public Engagement officer.
The Research Hub Manager will be employed by Trinity and will be co-located together with the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water and the All-Island Climate and Biodiversity Research Network offices within Trinity. The Research Hub Manager will report to the AIB Trinity Climate Hub Director, Professor Yvonne Buckley, who is based at Trinity College Dublin as line manager. As the AIB Trinity Climate Hub is a collaborative research centre, the position will involve leadership of the collaborative partners including operational staff, academics, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and Research Assistants. The post will require close working with senior colleagues across the University to set ambition and determine priorities in relation to research strategy, policy, culture, profile, and reputation and will be responsible for coordinating activities that deliver significant value to the Hub.

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.
Qualifications
Essential
• The role-holder will have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant research area or have relevant business, communications or equivalent experience.
Desirable
• Experience and additional graduate or post-graduate qualifications in climate, biodiversity, water, sustainability, environmental sciences, social sciences, engineering or similar areas relevant to the AIB Trinity Climate Hub mission would be a distinct advantage.
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Administrative Officer 1 (1-6) (€69,545 - €110,118 per annum) and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.” https://www.tcd.ie/hr/employee-services/pay-scales/
