Senior Executive Officer in CLCS

The specific purpose of this contract is to fill a Senior Executive Officer 2 vacancy on a temporary basis pending the return of the postholder from maternity leave.

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week

The Purpose of the Role 

This is a full-time specific purpose contract to backfill a staff member who will be taking maternity leave in mid-March. The Centre for Language & Communication Studies (CLCS), based in the School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences requires a Senior Executive Officer. The role-holder will be responsible for overseeing the Centre’s Assessment and Progression processes at undergraduate level. The role-holder will also support the Head of Discipline in CLCS and course coordinators within the discipline in managing the administration of undergraduate and visiting programmes, ensuring all necessary administrative processes are implemented effectively and efficiently. 

In addition, the Senior Executive Officer (SEO) will act as Secretary to the School Research Ethics Committee, ensuring the integrity of this confidential and essential process and its compliance with relevant College policies.

 

Context 

This role is part of a small team of administrative staff who provide services to management, staff and students within the School and reports to the School Manager. The Centre for Language & Communication Studies is split across two sites: the Arts Building and 7-9 South Leinster Street encompassing the discipline, the Centre for Language & Communication Studies, and three other Centre’s, the Centre for Deaf Studies (the only one on the island of Ireland, with both deaf staff and students), the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies and the Centre for English Language Teaching & Learning (supporting pre-sessional and in-sessional English Language courses for the College). The Centre for Language and Communication Studies (CLCS) teaching includes the Bachelor in Deaf Studies, the Trinity Joint Honors Linguistics subject, Trinity Elective Language Modules, the Linguistic components of many undergraduate programmes and five taught postgraduate programmes.

 

Qualifications

Ideally a third level educational qualification, supplemented by extensive experience in a demanding academic environment, particularly in the area of course administration and delivery, or at least 5 years relevant course administrative experience within an academic discipline.
