Post-Doctoral Researcher Department of Sociology and Criminology
The Department of Sociology and Criminology are recruiting for the position of Post-Doctoral Researcher. This postdoctoral project is connected to a large study which examines experiences of border crossing, technologies that are used by migrants to connect with and construct a home after border crossing. The project is focused on migrants’ homemaking practices in cities close to borders in Turkey and Ireland. In Turkey possible fieldwork site will be in Van city and in Ireland, it will be Dublin. The researcher is responsible for collecting some data alongside the PI, spend some time to do ethnographic research in Turkey and Ireland and analyse and write up results for publication in peer reviewed journals.
Other duties could include help with preparation of reports, and some minor administrative tasks.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEIResearcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
