Post-Doctoral Researcher School of Pharmacy
We are currently recruiting a Post-Doctoral Scientist, with a background in biomaterial and analytical science, to join an Industry-funded multidisciplinary research project. The Post-Doctoral Scientist will join our research team to undertake thorough experimental investigations into the process factors influencing biomaterial solution stability. The project seeks to establish analytical methodologies to determine solution stability and conduct experimental runs to investigate the solution stability under simulated production stresses such as temperature, time, forced degradation. The successful candidate will be expected to apply their experience to conduct risk assessments and develop experimental protocols. The candidate will be expected to prepare solutions of the biomaterial of interest under a range of conditions and explore solution stability employing analytical procedures they will establish as part of the project. The candidate should have previous experience of collecting, structuring, and analysing RP-HPLC data. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with ability to conduct independent research to a high level and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The candidate will be based in the laboratory space in the School of Pharmacy, UCC, working with Prof. Abina Crean, Prof. Melissa Hanna-Brown, and Dr. Lorraine Bateman, University College Cork. The candidate will work closely with the industry partner to conduct a specified programme of research. Within our group we strive to support innovation and discovery through scientific excellence, teamwork, creativity, and ambition, in a research-based, globally oriented university. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in biomaterial processing and characterisation applied to a commercial manufacturing setting. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to robust process design to support the manufacture of innovative biomedical products to improve patient health.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
Please note that Garda vetting and/or an international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.
Project Title: Biomaterial Chemical Stability
Post Duration: 12 Months, whole-time Post
