Research Support Officer – Admin. (Part-Time) The School of Nursing & Midwifery

Applications are invited for the position of Research Support Officer – Admin. in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The School of Nursing and Midwifery was established in 1994 and since then a wide range of programmes have been developed at both undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. In addition, the School has a growing suite of Continuing Professional Development modules supporting life-long learning. Since 2012, the School has actively engaged in international recruitment and now has a growing body of international students. The School has over 1,300 students and is one of the largest in the University.  The School is committed to excellence and leadership in teaching, practice and research involving close collaborative relationships with health service providers, and national and international educators and researchers. The School holds the Athena Swan Bronze Award and is in the top 30 in Global QS Rankings.  UCC’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is ranked number one in Ireland for H-index citations (score 86.9), meaning that published works of staff in the School are among the most highly cited worldwide.  This impact metric reflects the breadth of research activity, where 2023/2024 saw the highest numbers of funded research projects led by staff in the School. Among the 25 active research projects in the School, we secured a prestigious €7.5 million Horizon Europe grant as Coordinators aimed at improving the lives of people with advanced dementia in Nursing Homes, a €2.5 million HRB Applied Programme Grant to improve national supports for breastfeeding and a €6 million interdisciplinary project to better understand and manage the long-term effects of testicular cancer and its treatment in young survivors. The policy and practice impact from the evidence produced and translated by staff in the School is nationally and internationally recognized and against this background we have established a Research and Innovation Hub which supports the operation of strategic areas of research in the School. To ensure we achieve our strategic goals and maximise research activity and impact we are seeking to employ a Research Support Officer for the Hub. The Research Support Officer will have responsibility for the provision of high-level support in a complex research environment consisting of many interdisciplinary programme grants and multiple Principal Investigators. Working directly with the Dean of School and Vice Dean of Research and Innovation for the School the Research Support Officer will help to foster and enhance a research-enabled environment that builds capacity and supports engagement in research activities for staff of the School.
