Commercialisation Researcher, UCD Mech&Materials Engr,24 Months

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Commercialisation Researcher within UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
I-Form, the Research Ireland Centre for Advanced Manufacturing is seeking an experienced researcher to work on a collaborative research project with an I-Form partner medical device company based in County Limerick. The aim of the research is to optimise the additive manufacturing (AM) production process chain for efficiency, productivity and sustainability, while delivering unique product performance. This research will be facilitated through the use of advanced process monitoring technologies along with data analysis. AI tools will be used to increase understanding of process and product anomaly risks, interactions between the printing process and post-processing, as well as the product flow through the factory. The goal is to significantly reduce cost and resource usage required for production using AM processing for small batch, medical devices whilst reducing the time required for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
This is a senior research position that builds on your previous experience, involving the execution of a defined research programme under the supervision of a Principal Investigator. The role will also involve significant time spent at the partner company. The researcher work is co-funded by the I-Form Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (www.i-form.ie) through Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland (formerly Science Foundation Ireland) and the industry partner.
Fixed Salary: €65,889 Per Annum
