Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Applications are invited for a 12-month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position with Dr. Emer Doheny (https://people.ucd.ie/emer.doheny) at the UCD School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in collaboration with Dr. Jayne Carberry in the UCD School of Medicine (https://people.ucd.ie/jayne.carberry). We are developing a new device for oropharyngeal muscle assessment, which aims to alleviate the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and to reduce swallowing impairment in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease (PD). This role will involve contributing to the development of the device, conducting experimental studies in healthy participants, and participants with OSA/PD. The successful applicant will lead the analysis of sensor data using signal processing and supervised machine learning methods. The position is available for one year initially, with the potential of a further year depending on progress.
This position is funded through the ARC Hub for HealthTech. The ARC Hub for HealthTech is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Northern & Western Regional Programme 2021-2027.
PD1 Salary Range: €47,273 - €51,176 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

If you have already completed your PD1 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD1, or you are an external applicant whose total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 4 years, you should not apply and should refer to PD2 posts instead.
