UCD Post-Doc Lvl 1, UCD Electrical & Electronic Engr, 18 months

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. 

As power systems evolve, the dynamic behavior of power electronics-based distributed energy resources (DERs) and their interaction with the main transmission system will play a crucial role in the ability of system operators to prevent power disruptions in the coming years. DERs are typically faster and, in terms of control capabilities, more versatile than conventional synchronous machines. They therefore present both significant challenges and unprecedented opportunities for power system security. In this context, applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the design of novel control schemes that enhance the frequency and voltage response of DERs and on the development of advanced tools for managing dynamic interactions between transmission and distribution networks. 

PD1 Salary Scale: €45,847 - €52,339 Per Annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
