Applications are invited for a 0.4 FTE for 11 months post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within Education. This postdoctoral research opportunity focuses on the development and implementation of an innovative cybersecurity curriculum designed for upper primary and lower secondary education, based on the junior cycle cybersecurity short course developed by the Centre for Cyber Resilience Education. The project aims to introduce young learners to essential cybersecurity concepts, including identifying cyber threats, creating strong passcodes, understanding social engineering, and basic coding, at an early and formative stage. It also seeks to enhance teacher expertise in delivering this specialised content and to spark early interest in cybersecurity careers among primary school students. Distinct from existing cyberbullying initiatives, the project takes a novel and multi-disciplinary approach, bringing together educators, curriculum developers, and cybersecurity professionals. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a transformative educational model with the potential to influence policy, build digital resilience from an early age, and open new research directions in cybersecurity education.
