UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science The successful candidate will join the Green Cell Factory research programme, an ambitious and interdisciplinary 60-month project focused on advancing plant cell suspension culture technologies for the sustainable production of high-value plant-derived metabolites and biopharmaceuticals. The project brings together expertise in plant molecular biology, synthetic biology, metabolite analysis, and bioprocess engineering to address key limitations currently restricting the wider industrial application of plant cell-based biotechnology, including low productivity, stress sensitivity, scalability challenges, and variability in culture performance. Through integrated laboratory and translational research activities, the programme aims to establish robust, scalable, and commercially relevant plant cell culture platforms capable of supporting sustainable year-round production of valuable natural products. Fixed Salary: €54,850 per annumAppointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 2 June 2026. The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
