UCD Postdoc Level 2, School of Electric and Electronic,Temp

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The QUBIC project is a strategic initiative aimed at advancing quantum computing to address critical challenges in high-impact sectors such as energy, advanced materials, and pharmaceutical discovery. The QUBIC consortium will deliver disruptive innovations across three core quantum domains:* Development of quantum algorithms to solve specific industry challenges.* Advancement of quantum processors and software stacks to support the running of these algorithms.* Industrial research in optimisation and AI/ML to support scaling of algorithms for real-world applicationsBy leveraging advancements in quantum technologies, the QUBIC project will build a robust innovation pipeline to deliver transformative solutions. These technologies have the potential to unlock new market opportunities in industry specific sectors, including pharmaceuticals, energy, and advanced manufacturing. This initiative directly supports Ireland's strategic vision to lead in quantum innovation, foster economic growth, and secure a strong position in the global quantum economy. The project is funded by Enterprise Ireland through the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF). "Quantum Computing for Power and Energy Systems", aims to establish tangible prospects for leveraging Quantum Computing to address the modern day computational and stochastic challenges of electrical power system analysis, control and optimisation. The dual goal is to tap into the current capabilities of Quantum Computing while also streamlining the future exploitation of further advancements in the field. The successful applicant will work within an interdisciplinary team of UCD researchers on the same project, including both Electrical Power Systems experts and Quantum Computing experts. The post duration has the potential to be extended by up to 6 months, subject to Enterprise Ireland (research body funder) confirmation. This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. PD2 Salary: €54,850 - €56,393 per annum.Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 24/04/2026.Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified.
