Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed-term position of Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland.
This position is funded by Research Ireland and is available immediately to contract end date of 30th June 2028.
Information on project:
Lipid droplets are intracellular organelles that act as energy stores in the cell. They have a unique structure, consisting of a globule of fat surrounded by a lipid monolayer. They have recently been recognized as playing a role in the life cycles of many viruses, acting as sites for viral assembly and replication. One example of this is dengue virus, responsible for dengue fever. This is endemic in the global south and due to climate change becoming increasing a global threat, with over 4 billion people at risk. There is, therefore, an urgent need for detailed molecular understanding of the dengue virus lifecycle to inform on devising new pathways for tackling infections.
Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €45,846- €58,481 per annum.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 17:00 (Irish Time) on 25th July 2025. It will not be possible to consider applications received after the closing date.
