Research Assistant - Mental Health Promotion (0.65 FTE)-Health Promotion Research Centre 011322

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time (0.65 FTE), fixed term (2 months) position as Research Assistant in Mental Health Promotion with the  Health Promotion Research Centre at the University of Galway.

This position is funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and is available from November 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. There is the possibility of extension of the post after this date subject to further funding.

The Health Promotion Research Centre was established in 1990 with support from the Department of Health. The Centre produces high quality research, of national and international significance, that supports the development of best practice and policy in the promotion of health. As the only designated research centre in Ireland dedicated to Health Promotion, the Centre collaborates with regional, national, and international agencies, including the EU and WHO, on the development and evaluation of health promotion initiatives. The Centre has an active multidisciplinary research programme and has been designated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre since 2009.

Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €33,291 - €43,372 (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.

The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
