Research Assistant – A novel hydrogel for management of osteoarthritis pain-College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Galway 011283

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a Research Assistant within the Discipline of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland (https://www.universityofgalway.ie/pharmacology/ ).  

 

This position is funded by the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund facilitating collaborative work between Prof. David P. Finn, Dr Leo Quinlan, and Relevium Medical.  Successful candidates will join a vibrant group of researchers in University of Galway’s Neuroscience Centre and Centre for Pain Research. The position is available from 7th October 2025 to contract end date of 19st June 2026.   

 

Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €32,962 - €42,943 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.  

The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
