Research Assistant – Preclinical monitoring, Lung Biology Group-College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences, University of Galway 011311

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time 0.2FTE, fixed term position as a Research Assistant with the Lung Biology Group, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland.
This position is funded by a European Defence Fund award and is available from the earliest agreed start date with a contract period of 16 months.
The lung biology group investigates causes and outcomes of pulmonary and systemic infection, and the development of novel therapies for same. The EDF project is a Horizon Health EU funded programme which will examine efficacy of a novel agent to counteract bacterial infection. As part of our team, this position will mainly centre around the pre-clinical monitoring aspects of the work.
Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €33,291- €43,372 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
