JOB SYNOPSIS
The MA Community Music offers a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to function as a successful community musician in a range of contexts. The course is aimed at musicians who want to extend or develop the abilities needed to facilitate the expressive work of others and work effectively with a wide range of people in diverse settings. Students attain practical perspectives and hands-on experiences in the emerging field of Community Music in conjunction with developing the skills required to realise projects from the inception to their final execution. The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance is a global centre of academic and performance excellence based at the University of Limerick. Founded in 1994 by composer, musician, and educator, Mícheal O Súilleabháin, it has grown to encompass five undergraduate degrees, thirteen taught Masters, and a vibrant doctoral programme in a state-of-the-art building including two theatres, recording studios, individual practice rooms and dance studios. It has a strong international presence with over 50 countries represented by its student body and alumni. Its faculty includes renowned professional performers and academics, working within a vibrant surround of artists-in-residence and community partners. The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences has been conferred with a Silver Athena SWAN Award in 2025. The award recongises the Faculty's commitment to advancing gender equality, representations, progression and success for both staff and students.

Salary Scale: €47,955 - €65,244 p.a. pro rata
