Title of Post: Post Doctoral Researcher (Level 1) in Soil Microbiome Function under Recycling-Derived Fertilizer Application
JOB SYNOPSIS
The successful candidate will investigate the impact of the recycling-derived fertilizers (RDF) on the soil microbiome in the form of functional bacterial/microbial diversity and abundance, such as nitrogen & phosphorus cycling targeting molecular marker genes such as nifH and phoD and explore alternative molecular and cultivation dependent tools to assess microbial nutrient cycling. Soil samples from Irish demonstration sites will be collected directly for analysis, while samples from partner demonstration sites outside Ireland will be shipped to Limerick for analysis or are collected in collaboration with the consortium partners. The successful candidate will coordinate the efforts in the partner regions to assess the application and implementation of RDF blends with participating farmers (on the microbial driven nutrient cycling abilities) on the demonstration sites that form part of a Living Lab.
