This role has a broad remit working with constantly changing demands in a busy environment with, at times, conflicting priorities. The successful candidate will have experience working as part of a team in a busy Recruitment function, have excellent interpersonal skills, be organised and flexible, with experience of managing multiple tasks efficiently against tight deadlines. They will exercise a high level of discretion with confidential information and must demonstrate ability to work effectively under pressure, working on their own initiative and as part of a team.

Salary Scale:

Trinity Executive Education Operations Manager

The specific purpose of this post is to provide cover on a temporary basis pending the return of the original post holder from career break. Employment is not offered on an indefinite duration basis as the original postholder is expected to return. If the postholder does not return to work the post will be filled through open competition.

 

The Purpose of the Role 

The Executive Education Operations Manager is responsible for the delivery of operational excellence for Trinity Business School’s Executive Education unit. 

The post-holder will contribute to the growth and development of the Executive Education unit, ensuring operational systems and processes run effectively and that programmes generate a return on investment whilst providing a level of service that meets clients' needs. The post-holder will also be responsible for the financial processes of the unit, including budget management, account set-up, procurement processes, PO generation and invoicing, ensuring the Executive Education Unit meets its annual financial targets and achieves the strategic ambition of the School.

 

Context 

Trinity Business School is at an advanced stage of a transformative high growth strategy which began in 2016. Since then it has been one of the fastest growing Business Schools in the developed world and has grown by 150%. The Executive Education Operations Manager will be instrumental in supporting the growth of the Executive Education business in Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America, balancing operations and strategy for the Executive Education portfolio. The postholder will be part of the Programme Management Team and will report to the Director of Executive Education. A flexible approach to working hours will be required as at certain times the demands of the post will exceed normal office working hours.

The Purpose of the Role 

The Technical Officer will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of undergraduate teaching programmes, experimental project work and research activities within the Discipline of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Biomedical Engineering. They will support the implementation and operation of mechanical and manufacturing devices ensuring continuity of research and teaching activities throughout the Discipline as well as providing training and demonstrations to students and researchers. 

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in STEM, particularly Mechanical Engineering. The candidate will be a strong and motivated team player, who can problem solve and is able to propose and implement change.

The Discipline of Mechanical, Manufacturing & Biomedical Engineering (MMBE) is the largest of three disciplines contributing to teaching and research across the School of Engineering. There is an undergraduate complement of approximately 280 students each year in the School of Engineering. Around 150 of these undergraduates choose degree courses within the MMBE Discipline each year, in addition to 50 postgraduate MSc students and 80 PhD students. The Discipline is particularly active in research, with substantial funding being generated from research contracts. The main research areas are in Biomedical Engineering, Power and Energy, Fluids, Heat Transfer, Acoustics and Vibration, Materials and Manufacturing, and Robotics. 

Based in Unit 1 of the Trinity East Campus, the Technical Officer will join a team of technical professionals from a variety of technical backgrounds, i.e., design, electronics, I.T., mechanical and biomedical engineering who come together to provide advanced technical support to our researchers and students. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the successful candidate is required to liaise directly with researchers and students providing them with technical advice, support and training in a way that is highly flexible and focused on achieving successful outcomes. 

Supported by the Department, the successful candidate will operate in an environment of continuous learning to build on their professional development and to continually apply their acquired experience and skills to enhance the technical support services offered to our researchers and students.

 

Person Requirements 

Candidates for this role are expected to possess a sound knowledge of engineering principles and an in-depth understanding of the activities of a modern engineering laboratory environment. Candidates should have a willingness to immerse themselves in new technologies. This post would be particularly suitable to candidates who have a background in mechanical automation, mechatronics, gas turbines or hydraulics/pneumatics, with a passion to make a positive contribution to education and research. 

 

Qualifications 

• Qualifications for New Staff (from 1 January 2007): entry to the profession will require a relevant Honours degree or relevant trade qualification with experiential learning [Essential]. 

• National Certificate on Entry: qualifications for Existing Staff (before 1 January 2007) 

• The preferred candidate, if an MSc holder on entry, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, (that must be relevant), may be appointed at Senior Technical Officer level. 

• A relevant educational qualification to at least Level 8 on the NFQ scale or equivalent [Desirable].

We are seeking a research assistant to support the Director of the Centre, Prof Katriona O’Sullivan and the Centre team to conduct their research. The focus of the RA will be looking at quantitative data, survey data, and creating reports using statistics.

For this particular position, we are looking to appoint a candidate with knowledge of quantitative research methods, with an interest in equality studies. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects aimed at understanding and addressing barriers to inclusion in higher education. Experience of working in interdisciplinary research projects is desirable.

Salary Scale:
