Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time or part-time fixed-term position as a Clinical Research Nurse for the Critical Care Cluster and for a Clinical Research Nurse working across various therapeutic areas with the HRB-Clinical Research Facility Galway (HRB-CRFG) at the University of Galway, Ireland.

These positions are funded by clinical research studies with the Critical Care post available immediately for 1 year initially, with the potential to extend subject to research funding availability. The panel posts are for Clinical Research Nurse posts in various therapeutic areas both immediately and those that may arise during the next 12 months.

Since 2008, the HRB-CRFG has been involved in clinical research studies (including observational research, clinical trials and clinical investigations) across many clinical areas (including but not limited to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease, stroke, cancer, gastroenterology, psychiatry, obstetrics, etc.). The HRB-CRFG is based in a purpose‐built, state of the art unit dedicated to the conduct of clinical research and undertakes research on behalf of a thriving research community both nationally and internationally. The Unit houses our research teams and research support personnel and has the capacity to conduct in‐person, on‐site visits with participants in research studies in a safe and regulatory compliant manner. In tandem, HRB-CRFG has developed and refined key skills to support our local researchers and international collaborators in the inception, design and execution of research projects, particularly in the area of clinical trials of novel interventions. **Salary: **Research Associate/Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €46,305  - €59,063 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.

The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.

Research Assistant, UCD School of Medicine

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Asssistant within UCD School of Medicine This post will investigate the metabolic mechanisms underlying macrophage and structural cell interactions and communication in chronic lung diseases. You will utilise primary patient samples, ex vivo culture models and cell lines in conjunction with multiparameter flow cytometry, PCR and multiplex metabolic and- cytokine analysis. You will play a key role in organising, maintaining and undertaking tissue culture and ex vivo culture based experiments. You will provide support for on-going screening of biological actions of novel compounds under the direction of senior lab members. Salary Range: €33,291- €34,120 Per Annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. The School of Computer Science and Statistics is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Statistics, who will join the Discipline of Statistics and Information Systems. The Assistant Professor will be a full faculty member, and as such will be expected to innovate in both research and teaching, to assist in the administration and mission of the School, and to contribute to the wider research community. The appointee should have the potential to develop into a leader in their particular field of research with a world-class research programme. The Purpose of the Role 

The primary purpose of this full-time post is to contribute to paediatric speech and language therapy teaching, research and administrative activities in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in the interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring.

 

Context 

This post is central to undergraduate educational activities within the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. In particular, the appointee will be expected to collaborate with colleagues in teaching, research supervision and clinical practice support for students registered for the undergraduate programme as well as with administrative management of the programme. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to postgraduate activities through teaching and/or project supervision in the area of paediatric speech and language therapy. 

The Department requires a candidate to support and lead cutting edge research in paediatric speech and language therapy, to aid the development of curricula, advanced practice and support relationships with new and existing services provider partners.

 

Person Requirements 

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role. 

Qualifications 

• Excellent academic record and have completed a Ph.D. in speech and language therapy. 

• Have a professional qualification in speech and language therapy, with eligibility for registration with CORU and/or for full membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists. 

• Academic publications in peer reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value. 

• Have evidence of a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience of working as a speech and language therapist (which may include a period registered for a PhD). 

• Have or be willing to acquire an appropriate postgraduate professional qualification in third-level teaching
