The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Genetics and Biomedical Science, which are key subject areas within the School. The school has a strong international reputation for excellence in both teaching and research, with a particular emphasis on innovation in research-led teaching.
Major research themes within the school include cell death signal transduction, cancer biology, chromosome biology (www.chromosome.ie), and genetics and genomics of disease. Candidates working in these and other areas of biochemistry, biomedical science, and molecular or cell biology are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be based in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, which hosts a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology and Genetics and Genomics. The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching across these programmes and to participate in undergraduate project supervision.
The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake independent research capable of attracting national and international funding. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths within the School will be particularly welcome.

Salary: €64,903 to €103,538.p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
