The Purpose of the Role 

The primary purpose of this full-time post is to contribute to paediatric speech and language therapy teaching, research and administrative activities in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in the interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring.

 

Context 

This post is central to undergraduate educational activities within the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. In particular, the appointee will be expected to collaborate with colleagues in teaching, research supervision and clinical practice support for students registered for the undergraduate programme as well as with administrative management of the programme. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to postgraduate activities through teaching and/or project supervision in the area of paediatric speech and language therapy. 

The Department requires a candidate to support and lead cutting edge research in paediatric speech and language therapy, to aid the development of curricula, advanced practice and support relationships with new and existing services provider partners.

 

Person Requirements 

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role. 

Qualifications 

• Excellent academic record and have completed a Ph.D. in speech and language therapy. 

• Have a professional qualification in speech and language therapy, with eligibility for registration with CORU and/or for full membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists. 

• Academic publications in peer reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value. 

• Have evidence of a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience of working as a speech and language therapist (which may include a period registered for a PhD). 

• Have or be willing to acquire an appropriate postgraduate professional qualification in third-level teaching

The Purpose of the Role: 

The Department of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Sociology (Environmental Sociology), commencing on 1 August 2026. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s core missions of teaching, research, and academic service. They will have a strong and demonstrable record of research and teaching in sociology and will play an active role in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including interdisciplinary teaching, supervision, and mentoring. 

The appointee will develop a new research stream in environmental sociology, while also contributing to the Department’s existing research clusters: https://www.tcd.ie/sociology/research/. Context: 

Environmental Sociology examines and advances the sociological imagination in relation to a wide variety of environmental challenges, controversies and issues, at all levels, from global to local. Topics covered include climate change; biodiversity loss; radiation; genetically modified crops; environmental social movements; mobility, migration and transport; race, ethnicity and the environment; and toxic waste.

 We invite applications from candidates with a strong record in empirical research and teaching in environmental sociology, particularly those engaging with contemporary, interdisciplinary and emerging topics. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, the intersection of climate change and migration as well as the interface between climate change, religion and conflict. The successful candidate will develop a new research stream on gender and sexuality and contribute to the Department’s existing areas of excellence, which can be explored at TCD Sociology Research.

Research on gender and sexuality in sociology explores how gendered and sexual identities, relationships, and hierarchies are socially constructed across institutions such as labour markets, the state, education, family, culture, law, and medicine. It examines how gender and sexual norms operate through power and inequality, and how these intersect with class, race, ethnicity, migration, and other axes of stratification. 

We welcome applications from candidates with strong records of empirical research and teaching in gender and sexuality, particularly those addressing contemporary or emerging issues. Areas of interest include gendered institutions and policy, embodiment and identity, sexuality and citizenship, intersectional inequalities, cultural and digital representations, social movements, and transformations in gender regimes. Comparative or crosscultural perspectives are especially encouraged. 

Candidates should demonstrate methodological expertise that is both rigorous and innovative. Role Profile

The School of Chemical Sciences is seeking an experienced Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead its technical team.  The CTO will provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure high-quality support for teaching and research activities.  Key responsibilities will include developing, enhancing and maintaining the laboratory infrastructure, coordination of technical projects and workload, implementation of health and safety protocols, and liaising with academic and administrative personnel to support evolving school needs.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, leadership and people management skills as well as excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should also have budget management experience and a strong record of appropriate technical competence and hands-on experience in chemistry. A deep understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and resource management is required. The post will involve working with students, academics, other technical and research staff at all levels. The CTO role is key to leading and managing the School’s technical operations in support of its teaching and research mission. The ability to prioritise work, work to tight deadlines, delegate and take responsibility for project deliverables is key to this role. 

The successful candidate will lead and implement change to achieve the School’s strategic objectives.  The candidate will report to the Head of School and work closely with other colleagues in the School. Ideally the successful candidate will be able to commence the appointment in early 2026.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following: 

  • Champion continuous technical improvement within the team
  • Have oversight of maintenance and operation of specialist equipment to the highest standard
  • Support teaching laboratories and research activities within the School
  • Manage materials, stock control and purchasing processes
  • Manage technical resources, manage change, increase efficiency and delegate work
  • Champion the importance of Health and Safety amongst all staff and students
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of health and safety policies and processes across the School
  • Assess risk and put appropriate control measures in place. Ensure follow up action is taken to remove hazards and risk
  • In collaboration with Head of School, review the budget, technical resources and forward plan 
  • Communicate effectively on the development needs of the technical team and drive technical innovation across the team 
  • Lead and deliver on new approaches across the technical team to meet the organisational needs of the School
  • Liaise with Accounts/Finance Department

 

Qualifications and Experience 

Essential

  • Candidates must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent (NFQ Level 9) in a relevant area.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the role of Senior Technical Officer in the private/public sectors, preferably in the higher education environment.
  • Project management, organisational, and team leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards relating to a chemical sciences environment

Desirable

  • Experience in financial management and planning.

JOB SYNOPSIS

This position is available to undertake research in intensification of multiphase reactions/precipitation-based processes. The goal is to develop high fidelity computational models, validate these models using carefully designed experiments and apply these models for intensification of precipitation-based processes. The precipitation-based processes include anti-solvent precipitation like synthesis of lipid nanoparticles as well as reactive precipitation like synthesis of porous silica particles. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious chemical engineering researcher with experience in multiphase reactors and computational flow modelling at postgraduate level. The successful candidate will develop new insights and ideas for intensification of multiphase processes involving reactions and possibly, phase change. The work will involve computational as well as experimental components. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with PhD students as well as with academic and industrial collaborators. A thorough knowledge of multiphase flows, computational modelling and reaction engineering is essential. Experience of designing and conducting experiments needed for validating computational models is also essential. Experience of modelling flows with phase change like reactive precipitation will be desirable.

The UCD  The UCD Centre for Human Reproduction is a progressive interdisciplinary research centre based at The Coombe Hospital, driving clinical and translational research to advance care in the areas of women’s health, pregnancy and neonatology. 

The Centre is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to provide expertise for a secondary data analysis project. The project focuses on understanding the socio-economic drivers of cardiovascular disease risk to improve long-term population health. The research fellow will work as part of a multidisciplinary team investigating the geographic, demographic, clinical, social and economic distribution of cardiovascular risk in a maternity population. 

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. 

The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. .
