JOB SYNOPSIS

This Post Doctoral Researcher will bring essential skills to a large-scale project made possible by a European Research Council Advanced grant to Professor Orla Muldoon. This post holder will develop evidence in support of a new social paradigm for trauma that will allow us to understand the social identity basis of post-traumatic stress and facilitate resilience and growth.

Vacancy Description

The Department of Physics at the Maynooth University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Astrophysics. The successful applicant will join the research group led by Dr Patrick Kavanagh focussed on studies of the matter cycle in galaxies. This position is funded through a Research Ireland Pathway Grant. The successful candidate will work on JWST observations of the supernova SN 1987A, with a particular focus on dust modelling. The group actively collaborates with researchers in Europe and the United States and are currently engaged in research topics relating to stellar feedback and star formation using multi-wavelength facilities such as XMM-Newton and JWST. Dr Kavanagh is a member of the JWST Mid-infrared Instrument (MIRI) European Consortium.

Salary Scale:

Post-doctoral researcher                                  €46,305–€52,862 p.a. (6 points)

Senior Post-doctoral researcher                     €54,308–€59,064 p.a. (4 points)

Vacancy Description

The Library is a key part of both the Maynooth University and St Patrick’s College Maynooth. The Library was founded in 1795 and is now housed in the John Paul II Library and the Russell Library. We have over 450,000 books/eBooks and more than 42,000 electronic journals and provide a range of information skills and training courses.

We are seeking a part-time (22 hours and 45 minutes per week, worked over 5 days) term-time Library Assistant. This post is based in the Engagement and Information Services (EIS) section. The successful candidate will be part of a team covering the Information and Admission Desks in the Library. These desks are staffed during Library service hours and a rota system is in operation. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts including evening and weekend duties.

Salary Scale:

Library Assistant (2025):                                                                             €30,566 – €49,525 p.a. (16 points)

Salary scale based on full-time position, pro-rated for part-time positions.

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full time 6-month position as a Research Associate researcher with the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland. 

This position is funded by Research Ireland and a research fund from Medtronic and is available from the 1st March 2026 to contract end date of 31st August 2026.

The project will involve working closely with the Cardiovascular Research group and industry partners to carry out interventional cardiology, renal denervation and other invasive imaging techniques such as OCT and IVUS.

Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €46,305 - €59,063 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts. 

The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.

UCD Veterinary Hospital (UCDVH) is seeking to appoint a career grade veterinary nurse for small animal medicine to provide a high standard of nursing care by assuming shared responsibilities for a specific discipline team and by helping to coordinate patient flow through hospital services. 

Candidates must hold a Veterinary Nursing Qualification registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. 

Particular to this position: You will be required to work 36.5 hours per week over 5 days during the week between Monday and Sunday. Weekend and weekday out-of-hours working may be required on a rota basis. Start and finish times will vary depending on the needs of the hospital. The actual allocation of these hours of work will be arranged with your line manager.
