    Applications are invited for an experienced multilingual Digital Humanities / Computer Science Postdoctoral Researcher to lead development, implementation and evaluation of digital tools and methodologies for the NorseMap project based in the School of English and Digital Humanities. NorseMap is a 5-year project funded by the European Research Council, using citizen science methodologies to gather data on the Viking legacy from across Europe and mapping the evolution of responses to the Viking past over time.

    The ideal candidate will have undertaken at least one year of postdoctoral research, have experience with data visualisation, and be enthusiastic about engaging with different online communities to learn more about public uses of the past. They will play a key role in all aspects of the project from design and implementation of data collection methodologies – including advising on a dedicated app – to creation of deep maps and visualisations of the complex networks that the project uncovers. They will be expected to carry out high-level research related to the aims of the research project, submitting publications regularly to refereed journals and participating in national and international conferences. A particular responsibility will be investigating ways to visualise connections between complex networks of exchange and influence within the online space.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Viking researchers in mapping the legacy of a cultural phenomenon and to play a leading role in the successful implementation of an ERC-funded project.

    The post will commence at point 3 of the IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale.

    Role Profile

    The successful individual will be a member of the Financial and Operational Performance Group in DCU Business School. They will conduct high quality research and teaching in Supply Chain Management and will also participate in the School’s external engagement activities. Further, the successful individual is expected to contribute to programme management, research supervision and the service activities of the School and University.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • Individuals should have or be near completion of a PhD or equivalent (NFQ Level 10) in Supply Chain Management or a closely related field.
    • A track record of appropriate teaching experience, with a strong academic foundation in quantitative methods, modelling, or other relevant areas within Supply Chain Management.
    • A well-defined research plan with evidence of published work and/or strong potential for publishing in high-impact international journals.
    • Ability to develop and maintain international networks and partnerships within the academic and professional communities.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
    • Evidence of a collegial and collaborative approach to teaching, research, and service.

    Salary Scale:

    Assistant Professor - €63,311 - €101,461 refer to DCU Payscales for the applicable payscale.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Academic Qualifications:

    • Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent (NDQ Level 10) in a business discipline or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

    Research Excellence:

    • Proven excellent track record of high-quality research outputs, particularly peer-reviewed journal publications.
    • A current pipeline of research projects expected to lead to publications in high-impact international journals.
    • Demonstrated leadership capability in research, with evidence of shaping and driving research agendas, and the capacity to lead and mentor junior faculty.
    • A track record in supervising PhD students or other research teams.

    Teaching Experience and Excellence:

    • Depth and breadth of teaching experience in higher education, ideally including applied learning, experiential modules, or consultancy-based education.

    Role Profile

    The successful individual will be a member of the Work, Psychology and Strategy Group in DCU Business School. They will conduct high quality research and teaching in Aviation and will also participate in the School’s external engagement activities. Further, the successful individual is expected to contribute to programme management, research supervision and the service activities of the School and University.

    • Industry experience and engagement with relevant professional networks.
    • Ability to develop and maintain national and international networks and partnerships within the academic and professional communities.
    • Evidence of a collegial and collaborative approach to teaching, research, and service.
    • Strong evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach, with a willingness to contribute to the development and success of the department and school.
