Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer, Contract type B, Part time - 0.6 FTE in Spanish and Latin American Studies at University of Galway. 

 

The appointee will be an employee of the University of Galway, working in Spanish and Latin American Studies within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Candidates must have a PhD, demonstrated research expertise and a track record of teaching in at least one of the following areas: Spanish African literature and culture; literature and culture of the Caribbean and Central America; literature and culture of South America. The person appointed must also have a proven record of teaching and related academic administration at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

 

The appointee will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching language. They will deliver culture modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Discipline and will be expected to contribute to the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The appointee will also undertake postgraduate supervision and serve on Graduate Research Committees. 

 

The appointee will be expected to contribute to the research culture of the Discipline and School and build on their research profile, developing national and international network links, and producing research of an international standard.

The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in History of Modern European Art, based in the Department of History of Art and Architecture. Candidates must have a specialism in European Art from the period between 1800 and 1950 and must demonstrate an ability to incorporate collections in Ireland in their teaching and research.

The Purpose of the Role 

This Assistant Professor in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Computational Engineering) will be appointed to contribute to teaching, research and administrative activities in the Discipline of Electronic and Electrical Engineering within the School of Engineering. The post holder will build on the existing educational HCI initiative in Computational Engineering and complement the existing staff in the wider Departmental and School areas of Digital Media Signal Processing, Circuits and Systems, Digital Communication, Bioengineering, Power Management and Control, as well as the emerging area of Quantum Algorithms and Communication.

Increasingly the research groups in the Department and the School are interdisciplinary. In this recruitment call we are interested in growing our team in Computational Engineering in the context of AI and Deep Learning as it applies to Digital Visual Media Processing. We encourage applications from candidates with research interests within this context e.g. biomedical, automotive, entertainment and broadcast systems, quantum algorithms, biodiversity and climate monitoring. The postholder will deliver modules at the undergraduate and postgraduate level as part of an HCI initiative in Computational Engineering, contribute to the growth of the E3 programme across the Faculty and add to the activities of the Sigmedia Group (sigmedia.tv)

The Discipline of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (https://www.tcd.ie/eleceng/) contributes to teaching and research across the Engineering School including Mechanical, Civil and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Discipline. There is an undergraduate complement of the order of 300 Engineering students in each year. The Discipline is active in research, with staff leading major national initiatives e.g. the CONNECT Research Ireland Centre. The Digital Communications Engineering group conducts world leading research on wireless and optical systems with experimental facilities in the CONNECT Lab, Smart Docklands and COSMOS testbeds federated globally. A number of staff in the Discipline are PIs in the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering and deliver modules in the Biomedical Engineering programme. We are also part of the exciting Global Brain Health Institute which connects Trinity College and the University of San Francisco.

• Ph.D in the discipline of Electronic and Electrical Engineering or other related area e.g. Electronic and Computer Engineering, DSP, Computational Engineering, Mathematics, Physics

The Purpose of the Role 

The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to speech and language therapy teaching, research and administrative activities in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of speech and language therapy and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in the interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring. 

This is a specific purpose, fulltime post to provide cover for the role of a senior academic in Clinical Speech and Language Studies until the permanent senior academic role is filled.

 

Context 

This post is central to undergraduate educational activities within the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. In particular, the appointee will be expected to collaborate with colleagues in teaching, research supervision and clinical practice support for students registered for the undergraduate programme as well as with administrative management of the programme. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to postgraduate activities through teaching and/or project supervision in the area of speech and language therapy. 

The Department requires a candidate to support and conduct cutting edge research in speech and language therapy, to aid the development of curricula, advanced practice and support relationships with new and existing services provider partners.

 

Qualifications 

  • Excellent academic record and have either completed a Ph.D. in speech and language therapy or be currently registered as a PhD student. 
  • Have a professional qualification in speech and language therapy, with eligibility for registration with CORU and/or for full membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists. 
  • Academic publications in peer reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing of recognised originality and value. 
  • Have evidence of a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience of working as a speech and language therapist (which may include a period registered for a PhD). 
  • Have or be willing to acquire an appropriate postgraduate professional qualification in third-level teaching.

The appointee will have specific expertise in Generational Renewal and Rural Viability that is relevant to agriculture, food and rural development, particularly in Ireland and the EU. The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a talented individual to a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in the history of Northern Ireland. This post will be based in the Department of History, and its primary purpose will be to engage in research and deliver teaching relating to the history of Northern Ireland and to contribute to the teaching of modern history within the Department and on the School of Histories and Humanities’ taught postgraduate programmes in Modern Irish History and Public History and Cultural Heritage. The successful applicant will have a PhD in History or a related field, and we would especially welcome applications from candidates with research interests and teaching experience in the political history of Northern Ireland in any period from the early 20th century to the present. The successful applicant must demonstrate a proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in the history of Northern Ireland.

 

Qualifications
