UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science The successful candidate will join the Green Cell Factory research programme, an ambitious and interdisciplinary 60-month project focused on advancing plant cell suspension culture technologies for the sustainable production of high-value plant-derived metabolites and biopharmaceuticals. The project brings together expertise in plant molecular biology, synthetic biology, metabolite analysis, and bioprocess engineering to address key limitations currently restricting the wider industrial application of plant cell-based biotechnology, including low productivity, stress sensitivity, scalability challenges, and variability in culture performance. Through integrated laboratory and translational research activities, the programme aims to establish robust, scalable, and commercially relevant plant cell culture platforms capable of supporting sustainable year-round production of valuable natural products. Fixed Salary: €54,850 per annumAppointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 2 June 2026. The Purpose of the Role: 

The School of Social Work & Social Policy (SWSP) invites applications for the position of a full-time Global Officer and Communication Manager. 

The School’s Global Officer and Communications Manager will coordinate and contribute to strategic internationalisation initiatives, student recruitment, the development and maintenance of international partnerships, and support inbound and outbound student mobility in addition to promoting events, courses and other school initiatives across college and externally. They will facilitate the interactions between the Office of the Vice-President for Global Engagement and the School. They will report to the School Manager. They will also work closely with the School’s Director of Global Engagement.

 

Context:

Trinity College Dublin has a long tradition of welcoming students from around the world. In line with the University’s Global Engagement Strategy, Trinity is continuing to expand its activities to strengthen and develop its position as a leading provider of international education in an increasingly competitive environment. 

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to assist in the diversification and international student recruitment strategies of the School and the University. This will involve a collaborative approach working across a number of areas and teams. A strong customer-focus is required in managing enquiries from prospective international students regarding studying at Trinity College Dublin and moving to/living in Ireland together with the provision of ongoing support.

UCD Post-Doc Lvl 1, UCD Biosystems & Food Engineering, 24 months

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering. 

The Post-doctoral researcher will contribute to a collaborative Ireland-New Zealand Joint Research Initiative focused on the development of digital approaches and tools to support the deployment and monitoring of on-farm climate practices. The role will focus on the development and evaluation of proximal sensing for near real-time monitoring of soil organic carbon for climate smart management. 

The successful candidate will lead and execute high quality application of spectral models in MIR and portable NIR for rapid determination of soil organic carbon pools and dissolved organic carbon losses in farm landscapes. The work will involve handling national spectral datasets and spectral libraries from reference sites in Ireland and New Zealand, and the assessment of indicators of soil carbon dynamics and soil carbon sequestration potential. Sensed data will be integrated in a user-friendly dashboard for farmer decision-making on climate smart management opportunities. 

This position requires a strong capacity in chemometrics applied to soils, interpretation of results in a scientifically robust manner, and translation into actionable insights for multidisciplinary research teams. The candidate will engage with project partners on informatics and decision support system in an end-to-end interactive web application and provide demonstration and detailed technical support for end-users. 

Fixed Salary: €46,805 Per Annum

Hospitality Manager, Permanent, Maynooth University Estates

We are seeking a Senior Administrative IV grade Full Time Hospitality Manager, to work in the Estates team, with responsibility for the operation of the commercial estate comprising the student accommodation (currently 1262 beds), conference business and summer business. The role is to oversee the student accommodation and to utilise the wider university assets when they are not in use for academic purposes and to generate a return for the university through hosting appropriate events and conferences.

This would traditionally be a combination of student accommodation during term time, international students’ accommodation throughout the full year, events throughout the year, larger conferences at weekends and during the summer months, summer business such as language schools and summer schools that would utilise accommodation, catering and class halls. These activities generate commercial income of ~€10m.

As the Hospitality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of both student and visitor experience. Key to this role is to oversee and manage the 365-day property operations including facilities, maintenance and the summer to term-time transition from commercial short-stays to student term-time residencies. The successful role holder will be able to blend high-level strategic foresight, financial acumen and operational and people focused leadership.

Reporting to the Director of Estates or their nominee, the successful candidate will work as part of a team in a busy, challenging environment.  The Estates Team provides support to both Maynooth University and our campus partners, St. Patricks College Maynooth (SPCM) across a variety of services including the management of SPCM’s Village Apartments (240 beds).

It is expected that the successful candidate will develop MU Events (a new unit established in October 2025) and the synergies between the Accommodation Office and MU Events. They should therefore have a working understanding of the differing challenges of each of these environments. There are routine reports to university management and the Higher Education Authority.

The post holder will be a member of the Estates management team and will have both the Residence Office and MU Events teams reporting to them.

The successful candidate will work closely with other senior managers to provide leadership and management of Student Accommodation and MU Events with a focus on value for money and good customer service.

Salary:

Senior Administrative IV (2026):                   €70,734 - €112,314 (7 points)

Assistant Professor in Intellectual Disability

The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to Intellectual Disability Nursing teaching, research and administrative activities in the School of Nursing & Midwifery. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in Intellectual Disability Nursing and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring. This post provides an exciting opportunity to actively contribute to developments relevant to the discipline in relevant research areas which are of strategic focus and interest for the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin and contemporary society more broadly. The successful candidate will be expected to have a depth of knowledge pertinent to the role and will be expected to publish and disseminate widely in the area of intellectual disability and also attract national and international research funding. 

The School is seeking to appoint a motivated and talented nurse who will become an integral part of the intellectual disability nursing team, and who will sustain intellectual disability nursing teaching and research innovation in the future through alignment with strategic priorities and/or the development of new cutting edge intellectual disability funded research strands. The appointee will be expected to provide leadership in policy and practice development at national and regional levels. The person appointed will be required to build on and lead the school’s existing research and teaching profile in the area of intellectual disability nursing and advance existing and new intellectual. disability research priorities by developing and disseminating evidence-based care within the local, national and international contexts.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time specific purpose contract as a Clinical Research Data Manager (Research Associate grade) with the HRB-Clinical Research Facility Galway (HRB-CRFG) team at the University of Galway. This position is available immediately to support the work currently being undertaken within the unit.

This position is funded by clinical research studies and is available for 1 year initially, with the potential to extend subject to project success and further funding acquisition.

The Biostatistics and Data Management Hub within the HRB-CRFG, a constituent unit of the Institute for Clinical Trials, includes both an extensive biostatistics service and the provision of an integrated clinical data management service. This means seamless clinical data capture, validation, monitoring, storage, processing and archiving powered by the latest clinical research data management technology. The Clinical Research Data Manager will interact with industry-based clients and academic and clinical investigators, to support the design of and oversee the collation, management and integrity of clinical research data in collaboration with the Statistics team. The role will require the implementation of best practice research-based data management processes as determined by national and international clinical research management bodies and legislative requirements. The role will involve providing advice to clients and investigator on suitable approaches to data management, Case Report Form (CRF) development or amendment, creation and maintenance of documentation required to support database build, testing and release activities, data collection, validation, cleaning and quality control to ensure data quality and consistency.

This position is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is available from 1st July 2026 to contract end date of 31st March 2028.

The Postdoctoral position is available as part of the Prioritise project - PRevnation through Integrated Outcomes: Reducing radon ImpacTs on Irish Society and Economy. Radon is the second-highest leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking, in many countries, and associated increased risk of leukaemia and multiple myelomas have also been reported. The PRIORITISE project addresses a critical evidence gap by delivering an interdisciplinary evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of radon prevention measures in new Irish homes. It will integrate the latest health data, economic modelling, and building science to assess the long-term health and economic value of strategies such as radon barriers, passive sumps, and ventilation systems. The project is a two-year collaborative and interdisciplinary project between researchers based at the University of Galway and Maynooth University. The researcher will work under the supervision of Drs Edel Doherty and Ronan Mahon at University of Galway and the project Principal Investigator, Dr James McGrath at Maynooth University. The researcher will be based at the University of Galway.
