Research Assistant, UCD School of Medicine, Temporary 12 Months

Vacancy Description

Applications are invited for a Temporary 12 Months post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Medicine. The Research Assistant will support research study based in UCD to collect clinical data from St Luke's Radiation Oncology Network sites as well as any other sites if required. IPCOR - the Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) Project - is a clinically led study that aims to improve the treatment and care of men diagnosed with prostate cancer in Ireland thus maximising their quality of life. Established in 2014 with funding from the Movember Foundation, IPCOR initially captured clinical data and patient-reported information on 6816 men recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 16 hospitals in Ireland. With new funding for a second edition of IPCOR, a new registry database is being launched in 5 sites in 2024 for a minimum period of 3.5 years. IPCOR is a landmark international initiative by Movember Foundation established in Ireland to allow international benchmarking in prostate cancer outcomes. Technical Officer, School of Chemistry

Applications are invited for a full-time Technical Officer position in the School of Chemistry. The School delivers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds, Chemistry with Forensic Science and Chemical Physics (jointly with the School of Physics), and taught MSc programmes in Analytical Chemistry, as well as providing modules on a wide range of other degree programmes. The School has 28 Academic Staff, 12 Technical and Support staff, 3 Administrative staff. Practical classes are provided in laboratories dedicated to first year teaching, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry teaching. The School of Chemistry has very significant research activity with up to 100 research postgraduate students and research staff. Teaching and research are supported by facilities including extensive laboratories, liquid nitrogen plants and advanced instrumentation such as NMR spectrometers, XRD diffractometers, mass spectrometers, atmospheric simulation chambers, continuous flow systems, AFM, HLPC and other instrumentation. The School requires technical staff to adapt to, and become involved in, all aspects of these activities.  This post offers a varied work environment to a suitably qualified person who values an expansive breadth of activity.

 

Applicants must hold at least a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry or a related discipline. The appointees will work under the direction of and report directly to the Head of School and the Chief Technical Officer. More specific duties are given with the further particulars associated with the post. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the capacity to complement and enhance existing teaching and research interests within the School.

Applications are invited for a Lectureship post in the School of Clinical Therapies, in the area of Neurological Physiotherapy.  We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative lecturer in Physiotherapy.  The successful candidate will play a key role in teaching and supporting the 2-year MSc Physiotherapy programme. The successful candidate will have a professional (clinical) qualification in Physiotherapy and eligible to register with CORU, the statutory body that registers and regulates health and social care professionals in Ireland. Applicants must have, or be currently registered for, a PhD.  Applicants should have experience in clinical student education and classroom teaching and learning. The appointee will be expected to be research active, supervise student research and participate in department and college committees.  Reporting to the Head of School of Clinical Therapies, applicants will demonstrate evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching, curriculum development and research in Physiotherapy.

 

The MSc Physiotherapy programme is located within the School of Clinical Therapies.  Over the past number of years, the School has developed a range of clinical healthcare programmes at both undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels.  In addition, the School has a strong commitment to research and growing suite of continuing professional development modules supporting life-long learning.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Above the Bar) Salary Scale: €78,401 - €101,534 (Scale B) / €74,592 - €96,455 (Scale A).

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
