The Purpose of the Role 

The TCD Clinical Coordinator will work as part of the Clinical Practice Team who are accountable for the design, delivery and development of quality clinical practice training for doctorate level clinical psychology trainees who will be competent and fit to practice within the Irish Health Service. The Clinical Practice Team coordinate, monitor and assess the 54 trainees completing this clinical training in line with professional accreditation and statutory regulation. The Programme is linked to over 300 statutory and voluntary service training placements and clinical supervisors. There is an expectation that the working week of the successful applicant will include Monday as this is the primary administrative and teaching day for the course.

 

Context 

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is an established three-year post-graduate programme that provides professional training in clinical psychology run in collaboration with the Health Service Executive. A core value of the course is an emphasis on the importance of integrating practice and theory, informed by the reflective scientist practitioner model of integrated training in research, practice and personal reflection. Within the three years, the course provides an intensive and systematic programme of training that equips students to meet the challenges of the Irish Health Services. Each intake consists of 18+ adult postgraduate students who are employed by the local HSE community health organisation in Dublin North City and County. Currently each trainee completes six professional clinical placements over the duration of training.

 

Qualifications 

• A minimum of two years of clinical experience as a Senior Clinical Psychologist, in a public health service, providing psychological services.

 • A doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D or D.Clin. Psych) and will be professionally qualified in clinical psychology. 

• Candidates must be eligible to hold Chartered status with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). 

• Full driving licence/car.

Principal Clinical Psychologist (Clinical Coordinator)

The Purpose of the Role 

The post holder is required to have an awareness of university organisational systems, particularly having regard to programme timetabling, academic staff roles and responsibilities and college policies and procedures. The post holder is required to be familiar with HSE (Health Service Executive) strategic and policy direction, and with issues arising within a range of service delivery systems. This includes a working knowledge of a large number of Psychology Services across the public and voluntary sectors, their location, personnel, and key organisational issues. The generic nature of training is such that the post holder would be required to possess knowledge of multiple organisational and professional contexts and in respect of several client groups. The Clinical Coordinator will work with the academic staff of the University, trainee line managers and clinical supervisors to provide professional training across the Dublin/East region of the HSE. The Clinical Coordinator will develop, implement, and research quality initiatives in clinical practice education for Clinical Psychology. 

The role requires advanced theoretical and practical knowledge, the ability to teach staff groups, high level communication skills, the ability to make judgements based on highly complex facts, and the planning and organisation of a broad range of complex activities. 

The Clinical Coordinator must have sufficient autonomy to make day-to-day decisions in relation to elements of clinical training. They also make recommendations regarding complex training issues to the Director of Clinical Practice and the Course Director. The Clinical Coordinator must negotiate difference of opinion and conflicting perspectives between key parties in a sensitive manner and make decisions based on a range of information, collaborating with others as gatekeepers of professional practice.

 

Context 

The Trinity College / HSE Clinical Psychology Doctoral training is a three-year post-graduate doctoral professional training programme. Each intake consists of 15 – 18 adult post-graduate students who are employed by the local HSE community health organisation in Dublin North City and County. Each trainee completes six professional clinical placements over the duration oftraining. This post is designed to embody the partnership between HSE and TCD (Trinity College Dublin) in the design, delivery, and quality assurance of this practitioner doctorate. The TCD Clinical Coordinator will work as part of the clinical practice team who are accountable for the design, delivery and development of quality clinical practice training for doctorate level clinical psychology trainees who will be competent and fit to practise within the Irish Health Service. The Clinical Practice team coordinate, monitor and assess the 45 trainees completing this clinical training in line with professional accreditation and statutory regulation. The Programme is linked to over 200 statutory and voluntary service training placements and clinical supervisors.

 

Qualifications 

• The successful candidate will ideally be a Principal Clinical Psychologist with substantial experience in providing clinical supervision to pre-doctoral trainees.

Post Summary 

Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD studentship to work on HYDROCEM, funded by the Research Ireland Pathway Programme and supervised by Dr Damian Palin in the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. Inspired by biomineralised tissues such as bone and seashell, HYDROCEM will add designer hydrogels to cement binders (that bind concrete together) to instruct their formation and organisation at sub-millimetre scales to enhance their tensile strength, promising cementitious materials that meet structural demands with significantly less cement. The successful candidate will: have access to world-class materials development facilities; engage with leading international and academic project collaborators: Prof. Daniel Kelly at TCD, Assoc. Prof. Niels Holten-Andersen at Lehigh University, and Dr Jure Zlopasa at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF); and may undertake secondments at Lehigh University and IFF.

JOB SYNOPSIS

Research Fellow in cell biology for the characterisation of testicular tissue and the development of preclinical models. The Fellow will work on an ERC Starting Grant funded project (RE3MODEL) aimed at addressing the growing incidence of male infertility. Identifying the underlying causes and developing effective treatments for male infertility requires appropriate preclinical models of the male reproductive system that accurately represent the native tissue and provide reliable and reproducible data. This project will develop a representative, reliable and reproducible preclinical model of the human testis. The model will be developed using tissue characterisation, hydrogel synthesis, on-chip model fabrication, testicular cell culture and spectroscopic analysis. The candidate will be expected to have demonstratable skills in testicular cell isolation, culture and sorting; testicular organoid culture; and testicular tissue characterisation (histology, spatial analysis, omics analysis, etc.)
